Dear NCBF Community,
I am writing to you today with great excitement to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of the Northwest Community Bail Fund. It is with the utmost gratitude and appreciation that I extend my warmest thanks for your continued unwavering support of our organization and commitment to our vital mission. Your contributions have been instrumental in our ability to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.
I come to this work first in my humanity as a partner, son, grandson, brother, uncle, friend, and committed community member. I also come to this work as someone that is committed to utilizing my lived experience to challenge the perpetual harms within the criminal legal system while promoting community healing, community building, and collective liberation. Having been incarcerated from the age of 17 until my 2022 release at the age of 34, I know first-hand the dehumanization and traumas inflicted by our current carceral system.
I am truly honored to step into this role and to work alongside individuals and organizations who share our commitment to justice and equity. Your contributions have been the bedrock of our ability to make a tangible impact in the lives of those facing the harsh realities of the criminal injustice system. As we embark on this new chapter together, I am inspired by the legacy of compassion and justice that you, our valued community advocate, have helped us build.
Thank you for standing by us, for believing in the power of justice, and for being an integral part of our community. Your drive and passion fuels our efforts to challenge systemic inequities and ensure that no one is denied their fundamental right to a fair and just legal process. With your support, NCBF stands as a beacon of hope, advocating for change and providing a lifeline to those who are the most marginalized. Together, we are forging a path towards a more just and compassionate society.
See you very soon,
Cyril D. Walrond (He/Him)
Executive Director,
Northwest Community Bail Fund
